While micro-level efforts are certainly important, a macro-level paradigm for increasing sustainability does exist. It could be implemented in any nation. It should be implemented in every nation as soon as possible.
With this paradigm in place output would be governed, passively but effectively, by demographics. There would be no unemployment or poverty at any level of total output.
This paradigm is an institutional construct, not a theoretical model. Those outcomes would follow from the implementation of it as certainly as day follows night.
To ignore this idea because 'it looks too good to be true' is to take cynicism to the point of madness.
