We do (now) have a democratic political process: freedom of political speech and a democratic distribution of other forms of participation in the political process (voting, running for office, petitioning the government, and peaceable assembly). The power of money/wealth has proven to be stronger.

Still, we, the people, do have all the power we need. The problem is getting enough people to agree on the best use of that power and then using it.
