Truly a great book: it had a tremendous effect on me. Along with The Water Lords (1971) [a product of a Ralph Nader project, the principal author of which was James Fallows], it made the case for me for environmental issues as a matter of justice. (On the cover of my book, A Just Solution (2004), only “justice” ranks higher than “environmental sustainability” — then come “no unemployment or poverty,” “yet no limit on income or property,’ and, lastly, “no taxes.”)
