To say that human beings have never lived as part and parcel of the natural environment in which we exist is not accurate. While there is evidence that noncivilized human beings did perhaps hunt some species to extinction, in general noncivilized societies have lived that way.

Civilization is premised on the concept of 'surplus'. That is the notion that has led to the present state of affairs in this world. Human beings--in particular 'Westerners', and most especially citizens of the U.S.--must embrace the concept of 'enough'.

We can define 'enough' as that which can be procured with, say, the nation's median income. We can then pay everyone employed in any business or government that amount. It's called a "democratically distributed income," and it is part and parcel of "A Fully Just Economy." No further changes are required.
