There is one thing to say for the Confederates: they were fighting against capitalism. Bondage slavery is gone, but wage slavery is the foundation of the economy of this nation--and is still coupled with racism. To cure this nation's societal ills we need to extend democracy to the economy, via a "democratically distributed income:" "For Crying Out Loud, ACCEPT That A SOLUTION Actually EXISTS" (a "3 min read"--including options for further reading--here in Medium).
