There is a macroeconomic solution. It requires 'only' changing the way we supply the existing economy with money (as currency). Total output would be governed by demographics, and there would be no unemployment or poverty at any level of output. All it would take for that change to be implemented anywhere is for enough people to advocate for it. In the end, every nation on the planet is a direct democracy.
