There certainly is a place for such innovation, but college is way more than a good time. It is a time to explore intellectually and to learn to think critically about ideas and beliefs, including your own.
Making that affordable for all citizens who want it should be a goal of society. It's looking more and more, though, like various parts of America, Inc. represent our best hope for social progress in any given area. (E.g., Walmart is getting into providing affordable basic health care.)
That is truly a scary thought. Whatever the private sector provides it can as easily take away--or threaten to take away to get their way on any particular issue of interest to them.
