The thoughts in this article suggest an affinity for an intellectual path that arrives at democracy which does not involve a priori Rights or ego-centric individualism: mutual respect. A person can arrive at a requirement of mutual respect from religion or from a secular belief in equality. I make a case that it also follows from observation within material existence.
