The Republican Party has been captured by the racists and bigots to whom Republicans have been pandering for votes for decades. At the same time, conservative Jews (55% of whom voted for Trump for President) and the governments of Israel have been cozying up to the Republican Party because it has been uncritical of the domestic policies of those governments. The utter foolishness of that attitude is becoming evident.
