The problem I have with this paradigm is that it would be the endpoint of the us-them dichotomy that has plagued humanity from day one: now we would have characters within the game on the one hand and Players of the game on the other. What are the chances that the Players would be benign, much less better than that, in their relations with us poor characters? I suspect that the odds of that are vanishingly small. In their eyes we would be subhuman--or merely human.
