The fundamental problem with dating sites/apps for seeking a 'real' relationship is that they are unreal forms of communication: human beings supposedly learning about one another in a non-human way. As humans we are meant to learn about other people through communication that includes looking at one another and experiencing the total reaction--eyes, mouths, and other body language--that we exchange as we communicate with one another about ourselves. That doesn't make those sites/apps 'bad', but it does make them all but worthless--even without the significant the level of blatant dishonesty for which they are well known.
