The flow of events determines what is possible. Immediately after WWI, Palestine as a non-state entity (only local governments in existence) might have been possible. Since then, events have made co-existence between Arabs and Jews more and more difficult. Yet, the ongoing non-state existence of the Palestinians is becoming the on-the-ground model in much of the Middle East, where local government is the only 'real' government in existence. Perhaps that is the future of Israel, as well. It could be a good future if peaceful co-existence were possible. Might a non-state existence make that more possible?
