The flip side is that young men are 'officially' expected to be 'gentlemen' who 'respect women' yet are 'unofficially' expected to get as much sex as they can (via manipulation, at least). Young men are culturally encouraged to be exploiters of women, but at the same time they are being told it is wrong to do that.

I totally agree that the Western pop culture/marketing complex ruthlessly exploits feminine sexuality every way it can (primarily, though any form of sexuality is for it a resource to be exploited), but I would point out that women do participate as exploiters in it. I say that to emphasize the power of that complex to co-opt people, not to excuse anything about it. I loath, abhor, detest and just plain hate pretty much everything about that complex.
