The broader emergence of a 'social consciousness' among people in positions of power in the private sector is certainly a good thing. The system itself, however, continues to be the fundamental problem: as long as growth is of necessity the first priority for the economy, sustainability will be problematic. We need to cure the ills of the system as a system while retaining its very real benefits.
