That doesn’t change the fact that whoever the author referenced included as “middle class” people making barely more than $20,000, which is the point I made. It certainly is news to me that the median household income is $60K, especially given that the median income for individuals is less than half that. One question that arises is how many hours — for that matter, how many jobs — some people are working to be in the “middle class.” I remain dubious that this country is experiencing a boom in personal prosperity.
