Thanks for such a thoughtful comment. I do hesitate to ascribe too definitively the motives for his execution. I would think that would have depended on his specific words and deeds reflecting his own understanding of what his mission was. Whether he was seen as more of a disturbance by the Jewish leaders (religious) or the Romans themselves (social/political)--or both equally--seems to me to be an open question.
