Two features of such an economy would be that every business, however large or small, whatever it did, would have the same rate of profit, and that rate of profit would be equal to the return on a perfectly secure (absolutely risk-free) security. If we use the 10-year U.S. government bond as a proxy for that, the current rate of profit would be 3.036% (up from a low of 1.19% in August of 2021). In short, the last thing any person running any business would want, even if such a thing could be possible, is a free-market economy.
