Thank you for that Response. I have actually thought quite a bit about the issue of other beings.

Real justice is limited to interactions among humans. Treatment of other beings is an issue of morality, of belief. In real justice mistreating other beings (to include extinctions of whole species) cannot be an injustice, but I do believe it is immoral. I believe life is sacred, but I have to accept that my beliefs have nothing to do with real justice.

Beliefs can/do inform people’s participation a just (i.e. democratic) political process. That includes the making of laws. So the treatment of other beings is beyond the domain of real justice, but it can legitimately be a matter of law. Since a constitution is also a product of the political process, treatment of other beings could also be addressed there.
