Thank you for that interesting little essay. I have to say that it does seem obvious to me that studying preceding philosophers is not only good, but necessary. Otherwise, people would be constantly reinventing the wheel, as it were. On the other hand, I do get that the conclusions of preceding philosophers are outdated. Weaknesses and flaws have been exposed. Still, knowledge of out-of-date philosophizing informs philosophical development.
