Thank you for that excellent review. Even though it got lots of ‘good press’, I thought at the time that this movie was hugely underrated.

For me, it was a paean to mutual respect as an ethic to govern human interactions, with a particular focus on relations among men and women. The scene when Furiosa and Max almost wordlessly work out who is to take the long shot at their pursuer brilliantly encapsulated the theme. Even her instruction to him to keep from moving was respectful — an acknowledgement of the importance of his role, not an expression of a hierarchical relationship.
