So any theory that meets those criteria--whatever its source or its goals--is a critical theory, to include any from the political right. Why is it O.K. for people on the political right to be activists, whereas "activist" is a derogatory term when applied to people on the political left? Any political act is 'activism'--to include all political speech and, in the U.S., all decisions of the Supreme Court in interpreting the Constitution.

All political goals follow from beliefs people happen to hold. No belief is more true or valid than any other. Every belief is absolutely true for whoever holds that belief and of no consequence whatsoever for anyone else.
