Religion isn't the only source of dogma based on beliefs. Ideologies are secular religions because they are based on secular beliefs. Lenin famously made it a tenet of Bolshevism that no "fact" of history or even science could be valid unless it conformed with Marxism-Leninism. These days, people on the political right have gotten to the same place, with their attitude towards global warming as the prime example.
