No problem with the definition of "decision" in the article: coming to a decision is the first step in "effecting a choice." Warren J. Samuels all but defined "social power" as the ability to effect choices. It applies to individuals and groups, such as nations.
It occurred to me that human beings (as individuals and groups) have no choice but to effect choices. I have borrowed from Samuels to propose that mutual respect in effecting choices — respecting one another's capacity to choose, beginning with choosing whether/how/to what extent to be involved in the process whenever any choice is being effected — must be the ethic of justice for humanity.
To my mind, advancing our understanding of justice is the key for "our species" to "successfully navigate our journey through our dangerous near future" and beyond.
