"Overcoming Sustainability's Single Biggest Obstacle: the political imperative to maximize total output" (in order to maximize total income, employment, and the collection of taxes)

A solution to that (huge) part of the problem--a way to achieve 'degrowth' while actually increasing material wellbeing for almost all people (while taking nothing from anyone) can be implemented in any nation with a single legislative Act. This is not “Utopian,” only an example of how we can do a whole lot better in a whole lot of ways if we are only willing to open our minds to possibilities outside of old, worn-out ideologies.
