"Overcoming Sustainability's Single Biggest Obstacle" (i.e., the political imperative to maximize total output)

The core of the proposal is a DDI: "democratically distributed income." It would not be paid to everyone, but any (adult) citizen could become eligible for it. It would become the minimum pay for working people. Its amount would be based on the current structure of incomes, but enough to end poverty: so in the U.S., say, $15/hr.; $600/wk.; $2,600/mo. (a tad more than the median income before Covid hit).

The money for the DDI would be created as needed. It would contribute (as currency) to the money supply of the economy. There are built-in safeguards against inflation.

Sustainability would be increased because total output would be governed (passively but effectively) by demographics. There would be no unemployment or poverty at any level of output.
