Obviously, there is nothing more deeply personal than a person taking one’s own life. I do think that the state a nation is in can strongly influence the psychological state of its citizens.

I am convinced that we are witnessing the demise of Liberal society, the best attempt at societal justice the world has known. The time has come to re-think Liberal justice: "Equality Is All We Need" here in Medium.

Equality implies a requirement of mutual respect. Mutual respect already informs the theory of democracy. A society governed by mutual respect would as a practical matter maximize the liberty that co-existing people can share simultaneously,

Mutual respect can be applied to the economy, via a "democratically distributed income," with astonishing results for society: "For Crying Out Loud, Accept That A Solution Actually Exists" (a "3 min read"--including options for further reading--also here in Medium).
