Not 'scientists' beliefs': scientific knowledge and beliefs are two completely different things. Beliefs are independent of material reality. Accepting a belief makes it true (for the believer). Scientific knowledge is sufficiently verified information gleaned from the material existence. To be true it must accord with the realities of material existence.
