My understanding is that contemporary ‘conservatives’ have developed an irrational hatred of all things ‘liberal’. References to the Bible are nothing but attempts to justify what is felt.

Anything any liberal says, thinks, feels, or believes simply has to be ‘wrong’. Since concern for the environment is a liberal ‘thing’, it, too, has to be wrong.
