Much of this article echoes thoughts I have had. ("Great minds...," eh?) Even 'justice', to the extent that it involves 'Rights', is all about being self-centered: my life, my liberty, my happiness, my property. I am convinced that a better understanding of justice is the only thing that can redeem civilization.
I am also convinced that I've got it figured out: justice is mutual respect (technically, mutual respect in effecting choices). I have found how that ethic can be applied to the economy, via a "democratically distributed income."
There are options and stopping points available along the way, but that one thing can eliminate exploitation and assure environmental sustainability. It would allow money (as income) to flow to where people are, rather than having to congregate together in cities, where access to incomes has been concentrated in the extant paradigm.
This paradigm meshes perfectly with current and foreseeable developments in technology. Yet, to implement a DDI would not require any changes to the institutional structure of the economy of any nation. All it requires in that way is a central bank to administer it, which is a part of the economic system of every nation at present.
If curious, there is "Beyond Liberalism" (here in Medium).
