Made me think of other war films in which personal obsession comes to supersede the point of the choice that is being effected. It's unsurprising yet interesting how much war, which is always about the ultimate in obsessiveness--valuing something over life itself--can 'liberate' that part of human being at smaller scales within that larger context.
