I've lived my whole life in the U.S.--a Southerner, at that--but I seem to have an innate Eastern sensibility. I appreciate greatly the sense of all-pervasive 'balance' that seems to be at the core of all of the various aspects within the Eastern perspective. (But then, I am a Libra.) When it comes the governance of society, we do need some specific rule to govern that. It does seem to me that mutual respect is the best we can do in that regard at this point in human history, at least.
