It occurred to me that, although edaimonism is considered ‘idealistic’, of the two it is actually the ‘realistic’ one. Hedonism is about avoiding, even ignoring as much as possible the ‘bad’ in life, minimizing even the acknowledgement of its existence. Edaimonism is about accepting the existence of ‘the bad’ and seeking at least to lessen one’s own contribution to it.
