Isn't there something about the possibillity of 'being cast into a lake of fire that cannot be quenched' for certain transgressions? That sounds pretty hellish to me--though I am agnostic as to whether Heaven or Hell exists or what either might actually be like. I know for a fact from personal experience that consciousness continues (or at least can continue) in some form.
