“Imagine if society/family taught people the value of hard work instead of particularly strict 8th grade English teachers.”

That, to me, points to the biggest problem. Public schools are expected to make up for all the ills and shortcomings of society — and still have every student attain his/her maximum potential, taking into account all of that person’s individual needs.

To achieve that goal would require, at a minimum, making public education our very first priority — or curing the ills and shortcomings of society. I’ve figured out how to do that: “People for Tolerance, Unite!,” here on medium.com.
