If I understand correctly, you left out the part about observing material reality to invalidate, or not, hypotheses. Isn’t that the ‘contemplative’ part you say is missing? Modern science recognizes that ‘not invalidating’ a hypothesis is not the same thing as validating it. Some observations, however, have yet to be invalidated from the time ‘Adam first gazed on Creation’. What is constantly changing is our understanding, through science, of what is observed.
