If I may, I say do not bother with 'reaching out' to people across the political divide. Rather, as I have been urging for some time, a better approach would be to focus on transcending that divide from both sides of it.

In other words, we need a whole better way to approach governing society. The one I am urging would leave in place the existing structure of any Liberal nation (equality and liberty as the basis of governance), but would transform its functioning.
