If, as I like to put it, money is the fuel of the economy, price inflation is a fire. Still, something has to happen to ignite that fuel. It is also true that sellers jump at any chance to raise prices.

Are people suddenly buying more food and gas because there is more money in the economy? No.

Are some businesses setting records for profits? Yes.

All I am saying (here) is that it is more complicated than 'too much money chasing too few goods'.
