I would say that 'progressives' are shackled to the corpse of socialist ideology. The Age of Ideology is passing away. 'Trumpism' is the first post-ideological political movement. It is based on pure emotionalism: a hatred of liberalism.

Real progress is progress in our understanding of justice. Justice must be understood in a non-ideological (or theological) way, one that goes beyond Liberalism. A party that would take up that cause, especially given the implications of a better understanding of justice for the economy, would transcend the left/right divide in this country.
