I would argue that a democratic political process is good because it is a just process--the only just form, in fact, that the political process can take. Having such a process and engaging in invasions to (supposedly) spread it to other nations are two very different issues.

The problem with the U.S. is that money exerts too much influence in that process. One solution would be to apply the "democratic distributive principle" to money, in the form of a "democratically distributed income" that would be paid to everyone employed in any business or government. That would also make the U.S. a sustainable society at our present average level of material well-being.
