I would add that, critically, Nazism was a form of fascism because it was premised on the idea that members of one biologically defined group of human beings ('Aryans') are innately superior to all other beings. The "National" in "Nazi" referred to the 'Aryan nation', not the nation-state of Germany (though it was to be the home base of Aryan rule).
