I understand that this Response will be more than you bargained for, but in terms of economics the ideal of the ‘center’ would be no unemployment, no poverty, no taxes, and no public debt, would it not? That would achieve the ideals of both sides.
There is a way to achieve those ends. It does not require limits on income or property/wealth. It does not require redistributing anything. It does not require changes in economic behavior by people or businesses.
The solution cannot be less profound than the problem is. To achieve those outcomes requires a revolutionary idea. They are built into the structure of a revolutionary monetary system. [For the record, I am its author; I do have an M.A. in economics. I understand that learning of this idea from someone other than its author would boost its credibility, but so it goes.]
Although this proposal is revolutionary, it is not radical. I say that because it would not tear down so much as one piece of the existing institutional structure.
