I have nothing against virtual currencies. Their advocates’ enthusiasm is, however, somewhat puzzling to me. Virtual currencies do not solve any of the four great problems of civilization, from day one to the present : unemployment, poverty, taxation, and public debt— to which we can now add a fifth, sustainability.

A different approach to a fiat currency can eliminate all four of the original problems and help with sustainability. This idea needs advocates. If curious, check out for starters this “5 min read” summary here in Medium.
