I don't agree with everything here, but I do agree that we need to do some serious thinking about 'what is and what should be'. I think that to save democracy we must expand it to the economy. We can accomplish that by applying the "democratic distributive principle" to money, in the form of a "democratically distributed income." The results for society, it turns out, are astonishing: "Same Economy, Way Better Outcomes for Society" (right here in Medium).
