I do have a bit of new knowledge to contribute, if I may: real justice is mutual respect (in effecting choices); mutual respect (in effecting choices) maximizes liberty. In the ‘West’ (since Locke) we have thought that justice is liberty. We have used mutual respect to (try to) constrain liberty— ’an equal liberty for all’; ‘ending at any other’s person and property’ — thus getting justice exactly backwards. Getting justice right is necessary for civilization to get better.
