I do agree that ultimately we need a macro-level solution--though, as the author notes, individuals can help the cause. I am convinced that the single biggest driver of environmental destruction is the political imperative that exists in every nation to maximize total output--because that maximizes employment, income, and the collection of taxes (whatever the prevailing tax rates are).

I have discovered that there is a way to overcome that problem. Total output would be governed by demographics, and only that. There would be no unemployment or poverty at any level of total output, and the funding of government would not depend on taxes (or public debt). There would still be no limit on income/wealth, but there would be a limit on how much money could be hoarded (effectively limited to big businesses).
