I do agree that the so-called 'Christian' church is really the 'Pauline' church and that it contradicts much the teachings of Jesus in the Gospels, but I think it is possible that he was acting in good faith, based on his personal knowledge concerning matters of faith (which is what all beliefs of all people are).
Also, I do wonder whether his approach to the church as an organization wasn't necessary for it to survive. Had 'Christianity' remained a small cult among Jews, what would have become of it? We'll never know. of course, but it is a question.
Any person whose faith depends on any text(s), to include the Gospels, is putting faith in the authors of those words.
