I do agree that the parliamentary system would be an improvement, but it does still have the weakness of bringing 'party politics'--within and among parties--into the process of governing.

At the national level, at least, I would like to see in this country (the U.S.) a single party at the national level (at least). Within that party there would be causes.

Those caucuses would serve the functions that political parties do now, but could be more than that. They could be sources of actual prospective legislation. Anyone elected to office would be required to resign from any caucus(es) of which he or she had been a member.
