I agree with the critique of 'the left' in this article. I do think that new thinking about society should focus first and foremost on the issue of justice. As I see it, Liberalism got close to getting it correct, but the time has come to advance our understanding of justice beyond some vague notion that liberty and equality are somehow the 'twin pillars of justice' for a just society. If interested, I have made my own attempt, summarized in "Beyond Liberalism." It has definite implications for making the existing economy more sustainable (specifically addressed in “Overcoming Sustainability’s Single Biggest Obstacle”).
