I agree that we need a new approach to justice. We need to recognize that the ethic of justice is mutual respect (of a basic kind: taking one another into account as we live our separate lives together in this world).
A requirement of mutual respect follows from a belief in equality. It also follows from the observation that we humans have no choice but to effect choices: choose among perceived alternatives and take action to bring that choice to fruition. It boils down to a handful of absolute prohibitions: no killing, harming, coercing, stealing, or manipulating to get what we want (so, no moral relativism--but with more prohibitions on conduct in our interactions with one another than are in the Ten Commandments).
