I agree that UBS is superior to UBI. For my money, a ‘democratically distributed income’ DDI would be even better.

For one thing, it would literally be free (because the money for it would be created as needed, forming the supply of money for the economy — its author, I do have an M.A. in economics). It would provide the means to eliminate unemployment and poverty (under any and all circumstances, without having to redistribute anything), as well as taxes and public debt (yet government would be funded at the current level of its spending). It would also increase sustainability. None of that would require people to change their behavior one whit.
